James R. Fichter
I am an historian, author and, associate professor at the University of Hong Kong. I specialize in Atlantic, maritime and international history and the connections between early America, the British Empire, and the world.
Tea (Cornell: 2023) examines the abortive protests and potent consumerism of tea, one of the most noted icons of the American Revolution, showing how colonists re-embraced tea after the Boston Tea Party.
The Real Boston Tea Party (in draft) reveals the hidden history and failure of the Boston Tea Party itself.
I teach on Atlantic and international history and am looking forward to completing a history of how the Suez Canal interlinked the British and French empires in Asia.
